Well done to all those who played touch on Friday, we had some great wins. Students need to have their P.E gear here on Wednesday for athletics and also Friday. For any children interested in running the 800m and 1500m this will be on Friday at 12.00pm on the fields between Winton School and St Thomas's School. Electronic Story Book

On Fridays the year 7's are at Sci/Tech and the year 6's are doing ICT. This term for ICT we are creating an electronic storybook. To make the storybook first we had to choose either a story about a kiwi who goes white water rafting or a story about a pukeko who gets stuck in a possum trap. After choosing the story we wanted we got a large sheet of paper with the pictures we were going to be using. We had to cut out the pictures and stick them into our writing books. We had to write what was happening in each scene and make it into a story. After that we had to keep reading it through out loud and in our head to check it made sense and that we could read it through without making any mistakes. Most people are up to this stage and are getting ready to record their voices to drop and drag onto the matching pictures in garage band. After this stage we can add effects music and any other special things we want to. The finished result will be like a book that someone is reading to you on the computer.

Year 7 Sci/Tech

On Fridays this term the Year 7s go to science and the other half go to tech with  Mr Walmot. In science with Mrs Collet we have been learning about solids, liquids and gases. We investigated what would happen if we mixed corn flour with water  in a bowl. We were able to pour it and it made it a liquid. When we left it on a plate it became a solid.  It was hard to make shapes with it but. We were able to make a ball with it by rolling it heaps. It wouldn't stay in the shape of a ball for very long because it would just break up and squish down. It was called suspension. It felt weird when you touched it.
